Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!

We look forward to seeing everyone on our first day of school, September 2nd, 2022. This year the district will be operating with a unified start and end time for both MS/HS and the Elementary School. The elementary schedule remains the same while the MS/HS building will open for students to arrive starting at 8:05 AM. Students are expected to be in their assigned homerooms by 8:15 and will be considered tardy if they arrive after that time.

The Lake Placid Board of Education felt very strongly about providing free breakfast and lunch for all students in the district and will be able to do so again this year. However, you will find enclosed in this packet the Free and Reduced Meal Application. We ask that everyone fill this document out as it is very important in helping to determine the amount of aid that our district receives. When students arrive at school, they will be able to grab breakfast from the food cart and then proceed to their homeroom. A typical breakfast consists of a hot egg sandwich, cereal, or a muffin option. Lunch will change daily and menus can be found on our district website and in our school newsletter which is emailed to all families on Friday afternoons.

We are excited to launch our new and improved Lake Placid Central School District website (http://www.lpcsd.org). The site is easy to navigate and will have essential back-to-school documents under the Back-to-School tab. There is an app that can be downloaded for both

Apple and Android phones. When you go to the app store, please look for the Blue Bomber logo. You can also scan the QR code that is found on the enclosed website flier.

It is our desire to keep you informed of all that is taking place at school. We have streamlined our mailing home and have only included the forms that need to be completed and returned. Please return these forms to school by Thursday, September 8th. The informational forms thatdo not need to be returned can be found under Forms and Notifications in the Back to School tab on our new website located at http://www.lpcsd.org.

Please mark your calendars with the following important dates:

● Locker Day - August 24th, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM (receive schedules & set up lockers)

● First Day of School - September 2nd

● DC Trip Parent Meeting - September 13th, 6:00 - 7:00 PM (Grades 8 and 9)

● MS/HS Open House - September 15th, 6:00 - 7:30 PM

● Washington DC Trip - October 2nd - 5th (Grades 8 and 9)

● School Picture Day - October 24th

Education is a partnership between the school, students, parents/guardians, and the community.

Together, we will continue to provide the best educational experience for our Wilmington and Lake Placid children.

Dear Parents and Students,

While you have been enjoying this summer at home, we have been busy preparing for your next school year and all that it involves.  I hope you are looking forward to the start of the school year as much as we are.

 

Our faculty and staff have been busy working together on an updated Intervention process, how to use the new technology and how to more effectively teach reading and writing.  And I would be remiss if I did not mention all the staff members’ hard work in preparing a fresh, energy-filled education to both engage and spark wonder in our students. 

 

Please be aware that open house will be September 1st this year.  We invite you to come in and meet the staff, see your child(ren)’s rooms and drop off supplies as well as gather for a family style BBQ to kick off the year. Our theme this year will be focusing on engagement with you and our students during the school year and this is a perfect opportunity to invite you back into our buildings and have you be a greater part of our school community. 

 

Enclosed you will find various forms to complete.  Please fill out the forms and return them as soon as possible.  All public notices will be on our new website this year under a tab marked “Back To School” as well as a link to “live time” bussing information through ride360.
